#777 Berani and Dumai
Berani is a seven-week-old male Malayan tiger cub born at the Tulsa Zoo and Living Museum, but who is now at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, where he is a new friend to Dumai, Sumatran tiger cub at that Zoo. Both of these tiger cubs were the only tiger cub in a litter, but were pulled from their mothers because they were not thriving. Since Berani’s arrival at the Point Defiance Zoo, he has been bonding with Dumai, evident in the cute photo of the two cubs sleeping together.
Sumatran tigers are critically endangered, with only around 300 in the wild in Indonesia. Malayan tigers are bigger than Sumatran tigers, and lighter in color. They are native to Malaysia, and fewer than 500 remain in the wild.
